Company formed, intended to fulfil a capability gap identified by Chief Executive Officer Keith Hammond, whilst serving in the British Army.
Established in 2009, Optima found initial success developing IED (Improvised Explosive Device) and Search mitigation capabilities for the British Army in Afghanistan. This resulted in the delivery of pre-deployment and front-line training to British Forces. During this time the increasing threat from IEDs made us recognise that we had the people and expertise to deliver a much greater global response. We took the opportunity to re-define and expand our offering to meet this increased need and realise our moral obligation to help.
As our reputation for meeting clients’ needs has grown, our clearance and training teams and specialist personnel have been in demand worldwide. New areas of threat mitigation expertise have been integrated beyond IED and Search. Our original, highly specialised focus has expanded to include a full range of complimentary services that address a variety of threats associated with explosive mitigation in conflict affected locations. As the result of highly selective acquisitions and continued internal development, Optima now offers the full spectrum of services required to help people, communities and organisations to meet the threat from explosive hazards.
Consolidating this expertise has enabled us to appeal to a much broader array of global clients, positioning us as leading experts in the provision of human security.
Optima has chosen to meet the threats of today by constantly evaluating and preparing for those of the future. By investing time and resources early we have put in place a corporate governance structure, management team and delivery expertise that supports and drives our continued growth. In this challenging global market, Optima can provide the scale and scope of expertise required to meet developing threats now and in the future.
We are proud of the evolution of the Optima team. Most of our operational staff have a military or police background and have successfully adapted their disciplines and mind-sets to deliver the company’s services in exemplary fashion. To further broaden our offering, we have also brought in new talent from business, journalism, government, non-governmental and international organisations. They provide Optima with the added awareness, balanced thought and sensitivity required to navigate the complex physical and technological areas in which Optima operates.
